If you're targeting a specific employer, check the current HQ location rather than assuming they're all in the same city.

Bengaluru is India's e-mobility hub, and unlike some entries on this list, the roster of local employers holds up well: Ather Energy (electric scooters), Ola Electric (two-wheeler manufacturing), River EV (utility scooters), Sun Mobility (battery-swapping networks), and Log9 Materials (lithium-ion cell development) are all genuinely based there. Southern California — greater Los Angeles rather than the city proper — has one of the highest concentrations of EV engineering and design talent in the US. Tesla's design and engineering presence in the region remains significant, and a cluster of newer players (Rivian and Faraday Future among them) chose the area for the same reason legacy automakers once avoided it: proximity to design talent, not manufacturing infrastructure. Worth flagging if you're researching employers in this space: the charging infrastructure sector has seen real turbulence recently, including major providers scaling back or winding down operations, so it's worth checking a company's current standing before assuming it's hiring at the scale it once was.

London is investing seriously in transit electrification through municipal policy, but one popular fact about the city needs correcting: the London Electric Vehicle Company (LEVC), maker of London's electric black cabs, isn't manufactured in London at all — their factory and headquarters are in Ansty Park, near Coventry, about 150 kilometres away in the West Midlands. If you want a job actually building those taxis, Coventry is where you'd be looking, not London.

Zurich pairs industrial engineering with strong academic research. ABB, headquartered in Zurich, designs high-power charging hardware, and ETH Zurich is a serious contributor to research in power electronics and motor design.
